Okay well basically in 1790 a rumor began that Marquis de Lafayette was having an affair with Marie Antoinette, which wasn’t true. In a letter to a friend, Antoinette wrote “…the minister (Necker) and M. de la F(ayette) take missteps every day. We go along with them, and instead of being satisfied these monsters become more insolent by the moment.” Not exactly how you would talk about someone who you were having a passionate affair with, lmao
But that still didn’t stop people from writing porn about them. In 1791 “The Patriotic Brothel” came out and well here are some quotes: “Barnave fucks Theroigne’s c*nt, while Bailly fucks Barnave’s arse; Lafayette mounts the queen again and gives her another good fuck” “What double rapture!
